Thousand&One supports women of colour to thrive in their professional lives through community, healing, and growth.

OUR PURPOSE

As women of colour, we experience unique barriers that stand in the way of our career progression.

We are subject to racism and misogyny, we receive less support, mentorship, and advocacy from our managers and leaders, and we are severely underrepresented at the top.

Thousand&One was born out of our frustration with systems, structures, and spaces that were not built for us. We are on a mission to create solutions and outcomes that work for our community, in the hope of creating more equitable workplaces. Here’s how we do it:

CONNECT

Thousand&One is a community that connects women of colour. We are committed to building inclusive and safe spaces that foster equity and nurture belonging.

SUPPORT

We support women of colour through healing and storytelling. Together, we share experiences, celebrate resilience, and honour cultures and identities.

THRIVE

Thousand&One equips women of colour with tailored resources needed to navigate their careers, realize their potential, and thrive in their professional lives.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is with great honour that we acknowledge that Thousand&One was founded in the City of Toronto, the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. It is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Toronto is covered by Treaty 13, signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties, signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
